Twelve years ago a great calamity struck the village of Konohagakure. Out of nowhere the massive nine-tailed beast known as the Kyuubi emerged upon the outskirts of the Hidden Leaf Village.

Although Hiruzen Sarutobi, the third Hokage and his fellow Shinobi fought a valiant battle against this dreadful beast, they could do little to halt the rampaging monster. Indeed, for a while it looked like the end of Konohagakure was in sight, the Nine-tailed fox his rage tearing down the buildings, and slaying those who fought to protect what they held dear... till a hero emerged to challenge this would-be annihilator. Indeed, the emergence of the Fourth Hokage the current leader of the Hidden Leaf Village, inspired people with rekindled hope. Nevertheless, it seemed even a hero like the Fourth Hokage had to accomplish this victory at a great price: the sacrifice of his own life.

While the Fourth Hokage's sacrifice allowed the village to seal away the Kyuubi inside a newborn child, the fact that so many people had perished during the defense of their village was a cost that weighted heavily on people's hearts, and in their grief the newborn child, a young boy called Naruto Uzumaki became shunned by the survivors of this great clash. Although the third Hokage, had forbidden the villagers to speak about the event that had transpired, the fear and anger their parents felt toward Naruto, viewing him as the Nine-tailed fox himself made the children inherit the same animosity their parents held toward the child.

However, it would not be enough to defeat the boy's determined spirit... for he had a dream he would pursue and succeed in at any cost: To become the greatest Hokage the village had ever seen!
